Windstorm Damage in Connersville

I woke up today to what has to be the strongest winds I’ve experienced in quite some time — upwards of 40 miles per hour, when I checked a weather source earlier. Given the absence of rain & lightning, this is probably the worst windstorm I’ve ever experienced.

At the very least, I have seen firsthand the destructive capability of the winds. I went for a walk earlier during a calm period; I didn’t go much further than a block away from home, and I took these pictures to share. Click any of them for a larger version.

  1. Dude, intense! I talked to my family in Louisville today, and they said it was probably the most damaging storm in the last 34 years (tornadoes in ’74 were big). These pictures definitely speak to that, and you’re even a few miles north up the road. Crazy.

  2. I loosened the spam blocker a bit so I’m posting from my phone for the first time. You are absolutely right, Chris; it was intense, at least more than I am used to. I’d be lying, though, if I said it didn’t feel terrific standing out in the wind.
