The 9rules Network

A few weeks ago, I noticed that 9rules was accepting applications to join their community of diverse bloggers. Having seen several quality blogs displaying the “Proud Member” images, I have wanted to join for some time. I applied Timothy’s Burden for membership, and it looks like I have been accepted. Out of over 700 bloggers which applied, it’s awesome to be part of the chosen 100 or so. Only a small handful of those are religious blogs, and we would be joining 9rules’ currently 4-membered Religion Community. I’m not officially a member yet, for we’re still waiting on the invitation emails to be sent out.

For those who do not know, the 9rules Network is a community of “the best weblogs in the world on a variety of subjects.” It’s moments like this I’m glad I didn’t put “Humble” in my blog title. :) There are responsibilities and rules for joining 9rules, as well as certain awesome benefits, and you can read all about them on the 9rules site, but I certainly think this will be a Very Good Thing for Timothy’s Burden. Extra exposure certainly can’t hurt!

Also, I want to give a nod to Ping Six, Lo-Fi Tribe, and the Pop Occulture Blog; were it not for them showing up in my Incoming Links list, I wouldn’t have known about 9rules’ Round 4 picks until I got the invitation email. Thanks!

And yes, I realize that not all the bloggers in the Religion Community are in agreement with me or even with Christianity in general. But I believe in unity through similarity, and blogging is a common ground which we share. Think of it like being at work–not everyone where you work believes the same as you (at least where I work that is the case!), but I’m friends with everyone and can enjoy their company on the common grounds that are there. “All things to all people,” as Paul says, would certainly include befriending them and letting them know they are loved, right? I’m almost certain I may get some criticism for joining the company of occult or Buddhist blogs, so I hope this admonition to love is enough to curtail some of it.

Haha. Sorry! Honestly though, I tend to feature more Christian content and viewpoints than anything else. I know to regular Christians that will probably seem preposterous at first glance, but oh well. In any event, I think the diversity of all of our approaches and interests is the thing that will make this most worthwhile.

  2. I read it a little bit ago actually, Shawn.

I’ve been reading through some of the other blogs already in the network, as well as from the new batch, and there’s a lot of good stuff out there. I’m glad to be a part of that!

I agree with you wholeheartedly, Tim. A diversity of voices, interests, and approaches will make this worthwhile. Fresh ideas and fresh perspectives can make even old truth seem new again!

I can assure you all that your distinct and unique voices are what got you the invite (and, of course, you ability to communicate that through good content).

Tim, you are right on the money with your comment. All are welcome … your voices are welcome. Funny, I just posted about this on the 9rules Feature blog about two hours ago or so …
