Peace Begins with a Smile

“Peace begins with a smile.” That is the declaration on the church marquee down the street. I find it mildly humorous that no citation was given; it would seem rather odd for a Protestant church to publicly give a nod to Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu (more commonly known as “Mother Teresa,” though I very much hesitate to use that title regarding her). Then again, that probably wouldn’t be so odd in our day of liberal faith.

That aside, I could have sworn that peace began with the Prince of Peace, Jesus Christ? Should He not be the church’s hope for peace, and not a mere expression of man’s ever deceitful heart?
