Our Brave New World

Two days ago, the most liberal President we have ever had in America officially took office, a President who “has been a consistent champion of reproductive choice and will make preserving women’s rights under Roe v. Wade a priority in his Adminstration.”

Today marks the 36th anniversary of the landmark Roe v. Wade decision, the 36th anniversary of foolish liberals convinced beyond reason that even though abortion might be undesirable (most will at least admit that), it’s at the same time perfectly acceptable, glibly hiding behind the façade of “safe sex” and “sexual education.”

I can’t help but see Brave New World in America today; the government is all but encouraging citizens to have whatever sorts of sex it wants, to be experiential and open… Just be sure to use a condom, lest reproduction get out of hand. Oh, and if you reproduce? Abortion is a convenient out which the government will gladly keep legal for you. At least in Brave New World the people were sterile.

Better to have finely tuned test-tube reproduction than to have offspring that are so unwanted — so hated — that they are slaughtered en utero.

I haven’t been on this planet long enough to have appreciated firsthand the famed greatness of America in the early to mid Twentieth Century; what I see nowadays doesn’t strike me as so great. Actually, it strikes me as being a fair deal jacked up.

When God brought judgment upon Israel, He gave foolish kings to rain over them, kings who delighted in wickedness rather than good.

Such is the cycle that America is caught in, and I can’t help but wonder if there ever will be a turning in America.

Thirty-six years of legalized abortion, under leaders who for the most part would identify themselves as Christian. Millions killed. Millions whose blood is on countless others’ hands.

The thought of that makes me tremble… What judgment has God upon America that He would turn away His grace to the point that we sacrifice our children on the altar of convenience, the altar of “I’m just not ready to have a kid, but let’s have more sex!”

How are we as Christians supposed to respond to such a situation? Are we to sit idly by while our nation around us shows forth its own condemnation?
