Christians and their Eternal Consequences

And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last. Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through teh gates into the city. For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie. Revelation 22:12-15

It has commonly been taught to me that those mentioned here (“dogs…[liars]”) are unconverted people, barred from entering into the New Jerusalem.

However, all lost people were dealt with for all eternity back in chapter 20, “And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire” (v. 15).

What if the sinners that 22:12-15 mentions are actually saved people, albeit wicked and unfaithful saved people. They forfeited their inheritance, but not their sonship (which cannot be forfeited). They have entered the New Earth, but they cannot enter into the city to rule and reign with Christ. They have suffered loss, never able visit the Tree of Life.

This would certainly make the obedience and faithfulness of believers much more important.

More on this later.
