Gotta Have More Cow Bell

by Rick Beckman on June 9, 02009

A couple of weeks ago, around the time of the last OpenHook update, Jamie Varon chose to grab something off of my Amazon Wishlist for me to support OpenHook’s development. Her choice? A cow bell!

And yesterday I finally figured out how to get a good sound out of it. And shortly thereafter, Jamie tweeted me again requesting a video of the accomplishment.

Not wanting to disappoint, especially on such an easy request, here you go, for better or worse, a video of me, a cow bell, and a drum stick. Try to enjoy.

I hope you ignored my hair. It does its own thing; I just try not to make it angry.

I got a fever!

Oh… wait! No I don’t, it’s cured!

My son said that last rythem came from Low Rider?

Loved the video, RockStar Rick!

Rick Beckman June 10, 2009 at 00:57

Yes, that was “Lowrider” by War; it’s one of the most annoying popular songs I’ve ever heard, but I hear it nightly as I watch “George Lopez” on a fairly regular basis in reruns.

Thanks for watching. :)

I taunted your hair while I watched, so expect a bad day.

Lori June 10, 2009 at 09:11

You officially crack me up!!!! My boys love watching George Lopez

This is definitely the “geek” side of KingdomGeek.

Look how cool our cross collection looks, haha.

I say more random videos.

Rick Beckman June 10, 2009 at 18:48

I’d be *much* more apt to do more videos if our upstairs office was finally done. I figured out that I can rig your photography back drops up as a very nice, clean background for videos while I was up there sorting LEGO… (Is there a limit to how much of my geekiness this page shall reveal? Time shall tell!)

Just curious if anyone noticed they should pause for a bit near the end?

Sandi June 10, 2009 at 21:33

You are such a goof!

And Alicia, I noticed the cross collection looking good!

Bart June 10, 2009 at 21:41

Need more Lego’s? I have about a pickup truck load of them. My son is about to go to Marine Corps boot camp. I will see if he wants to save them for later, perhaps for his kids. Dunno.

Might go the way of his G.I. Joe’s. Guys and dolls, er, action figures. Sorry…

Sandi June 10, 2009 at 21:44

Oh no, here comes the “it’s LEGO not Legos” speech!

Bart June 10, 2009 at 21:46

I gotta tell you, Rick, it’s nice to find such a good group of people to banter back and forth with. Or is it forthwith…

Jamie June 11, 2009 at 16:31

Ha! What an awesome video!

Not surprised there are tutorials on how to play the cow bell. Glad you’re getting good use out of it!

And, you did say my last name wrong, but that’s ok. Most people do. =)

kristarella June 11, 2009 at 19:31

Jamie, how do you say your last name? Phonetic it out for us ;-)

Rick June 12, 2009 at 18:01

Hey Rick, weardja get the cool T-shirt? I need one for my D-I-L blogger.

Rick Beckman June 12, 2009 at 19:16

Got it from ThinkGeek. I like it… and probably wear it a bit too much. :P
